Eff 'Em Radio #1986

What's the story behind your derby name?
A very creative teammate came up with it. I let her know I love music and those close to me know I'm always singing something random. I also spend a lot of time in my car listening to the radio allowing me to call in and win prizes on a regular basis.

What's the story behind your derby number?
I panicked last minute and just chose the year I was born.

When did you join Renegade Derby Dames?
Spring 2014

Had you ever played roller derby before joining RDD?
Never

What (if any) skating experience did you have before joining RDD?
Absolutely no experience. My first practice was mostly spent hanging onto the boards.

Why did you join?
I saw RDD in the Alliston potato festival parade and it looked like so much fun.

What's the best thing about being a derby girl?
Everything. It's an amazing time with some amazing ladies and it's a great workout.

What do you do in your non-derby life?
I work in mental health and I love my job.
I also love the outdoors and hanging out with my husband and my 2 dogs.

What is your most memorable derby moment?
Everyday is an "aha" moment for me as I have so much to learn, but my most memorable moment so far was my first home bout, near the end of the game I was given the opportunity to jam and I jammed my heart out. I knocked down opposing skaters and had the entire arena cheering.

What is your derby goal/dream?
To improve just a little every practice and have it look like I know what I'm doing out there.

Who is your favourite skater/derby idol?
I have too many to name. I really look up to the people who have the patience to teach me new skills and take time out of their own practice to help others.
